Workplace Accommodation: Overview and Best Practices
Half-Day Workshop Overview
This workshop is designed to provide participants with an overview of the legal principles involved in the Duty to Accommodate, as well as an overview of the accommodation process itself. The workshop will cover basic concepts, as well as more specific and challenging "hot topic" issues that can frequently arise, including issues related to privacy, provision of medical information, and the expectations, roles and responsibilities of involved parties. Recent case law will be discussed, as well as innovative and creative "best practice" examples from a variety of employers. Workshop participants will also have an opportunity to contribute their own "best practice" suggestions with the group, and to share tips for dealing with difficult situations.
