  How to get your notice and pay during Canada Post service disruptions

  Advance property tax and utility payments

  Property and business owners are reminded they are still required to make their advance property tax payments by February 3, 2026, and their metered utility account payments by December 22, 2025.

  Get your property tax notice and utility bill

  • Online: Register or log in to review and download your property tax and utility notices
  • In person: Visit the Revenue Services counter in person, located at City Hall to get notice details, including amount(s) owing. Bring photo ID and proof of ownership

  Use other payment options

  • Through online banking or at your bank
  • In person: at City Hall

  Consider signing up for a Tax Instalment Prepayment Plan (TIPP) and Utility pre-authorized withdrawals (UPAWs) to avoid mail delays and spread costs over monthly payments.

  What to write on your cheque or money order

  Make your cheque or money order payable to the City of Vancouver when paying your taxes and include your:

  • Property tax: Folio number when paying your property tax
    (Your folio number can be found at the top of your property tax notice.)
  • Empty Homes Tax: Vacancy Tax account number when paying your Empty Homes Tax 
    (Your Vacancy Tax account number can be found at the top of your Vacancy Tax notice.)

  

   Including your folio number on your cheque (when paying your property tax) and your Vacancy Tax account number (when paying your Empty Homes Tax) helps us know which property your payment applies to.

  Where you can drop off your payment

  You can drop off your payment in the mail slot at the south entrance doors of City Hall (the doors are located at the West 12 Avenue entrance). Our mail slot is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  Mail and courier information

  If you are sending your tax payment from outside of Canada, we recommend that you courier your payments to Revenue Services, to ensure that your payment is received on time.

   If tax payments are sent by mail but do not arrive at Revenue Services by the due date, a 5% penalty is applied to the unpaid balance after the due date. Canada Post postmarks are not proof of on-time payment.
