Empty Homes Tax

Homes that are deemed empty will be subject to the Empty Homes Tax (Vacancy Tax) of 1% of the property’s assessed value. Every owner of residential property will have to make a property status declaration.

Why you may not have received:

An advance tax notice

A main tax notice

Did you receive a tax notice for a property you don't own anymore?

If you’ve received a property tax notice for a property you no longer own you are not responsible for paying the property tax.

Please either:

  • Send the property tax notice to the new owner of the property
  • Return the property tax notice to Revenue Services by mail to: Revenue Services, City of Vancouver, PO Box 7747 Vancouver, BC V6B 8R1
