Entries welcome for 2016 Book Award

City of Vancouver Book Award

Authors and publishers of books that contribute to the appreciation and understanding of Vancouver's history, unique character, or the achievements of its residents are invited to submit entries for the annual City of Vancouver Book Award.

Eligibility and entry 

Deadline for entries is Wednesday, May 18, 2016. 

The winning book must be published in 2016 or 2015, and:

  • Can be of any genre
  • Will demonstrate excellence in content, illustration, design, or format
  • Will meet the application criteria

All entries must include:

  • Four copies of the book 
  • A $20 submission fee
  • A completed entry form

Awards selection and presentation

An independent jury will choose the winner of the 2016 City of Vancouver Book Award and the $3,000 prize.

The award will be presented in October 2016 at the Mayor's Arts Awards.

Past winners

Recent past winners include: Wayde Compton for The Outer Harbour, David Stouck for Arthur Erickson: An Architect's Life, and Amber Dawn for How Poetry Saved My Life.
