All Souls event series returns to Mountain View Cemetery to honour the dead

All Souls event - Mountain View Cemetery

Mountain View Cemetery hosts the 11th annual All Souls from October 24 to November 1, a week of events to honour the dead in a unique and contemplative atmosphere.

All Souls launches on October 24, and all events will be held at Mountain View Cemetery (Fraser Street at East 39th Avenue).

October 25  7:00pm to 8:00pm  Threshold Choir presents bedside singing, the tradition of providing comfort through song to the sick or dying
October 27  7:00pm to 9:00pm  Mourners' Tea, a community conversation about end-of-life care
October 28  7:00pm to 9:00pm  An evening with the Vancouver Society of Storytelling
October 29  7:00pm to 9:00pm  Sugar skulls workshop
October 30 7:00pm to 9:00pm  Joelsay Pankanea's Five Stages songs (performances on the hour)
October 31  6:00pm to 8:00pm  Community shrine-lighting 
October 31  7:30pm to 9:00pm  Performance by harpist Janelle Nadeau 
November 1 2:00pm to 4:00pm  Historical walking tour
November 1  7:00pm to 9:00pm  Processional music with Orkestrar Slivovica

From October 25 to November 1, Mountain View's Celebration Hall will also be open nightly from 7-9 pm for memorial making.

Mountain View is Vancouver's only cemetery. Owned and operated by the City of Vancouver since 1886, Mountain View is made up of 43 hectares of land with approximately 92,000 grave sites and 145,000 interred remains.
