Asphalt excavation at Burrard and Pacific over Easter weekend

March 24 2016

Burrard Bridge

We will be excavating the Burrard and Pacific intersection over the Easter weekend (March 25-28).

Why the work is being done

This work is being done to remove an old style of asphalt, which contains asbestos.

While there are no health risks to you, every precaution is being taken to ensure those working on the site are safe.

What to expect

During excavation, you will see crews in protective equipment including masks. To eliminate any risk to you, the work is being done by specialists and monitored by an environmental consultant.

During excavation and repaving:

  • Lanes will be reduced to one lane alternating for vehicle traffic at some times.
  • Bus routes on Burrard will be affected.
  • Travel delays are anticipated for some bus routes in the surrounding area. Learn more about which routes may be affected .
  • Access to all businesses will be maintained. Please continue your patronage in this area.
  • Please choose another route when travelling through the area to another destination to ease congestion.
