Awards of Excellence 2014 celebration

We are seeking Vancouver’s top individuals and organizations to be recognized for their outstanding civic achievements in this year’s Awards of Excellence.

“The Awards of Excellence celebrate and recognize the amazing work that is being done to make Vancouver a healthier, happier, more prosperous, and harmonious city,” says Mayor Gregor Robertson.

“Over 130 nominations were received last year in support of the people and organizations who are doing great work across our city. I’d like to see even more names put forward this year, so I encourage everyone to nominate those around you who are creating a positive impact. The Awards of Excellence are an opportunity to give them the recognition they deserve.”

About the Awards of Excellence

Nominations open today for 15 awards in five categories:

  • Accessible City
  • Civic Volunteer
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Greenest City Leadership
  • Healthy City for All

In each category, awards may be presented to one adult, one child or youth (21 years old or younger), and one organization.

Nominations are open to everyone, such as organizations making a difference, tireless social leaders, community groups building capacity, and enterprising youth and children.

To recognize those whose efforts make Vancouver a better city, nominations will be accepted until May 8, 2015.

2014 the first annual Awards of Excellence

“Receiving last year’s Civic Volunteer Award on behalf of the Remembrance Day Committee was a great honour. It recognized and endorsed the committee’s enduring value which has engaged generations of Vancouver citizens in memorializing those who gave their lives in the service of our country,” said Cameron Cathcart, Chair, Vancouver Remembrance Day Committee.

Last year, the first annual Awards of Excellence consolidated several City awards programs into one new program that gives more recognition to award winners and brings a diverse group of leaders together to celebrate social accomplishments at a presentation ceremony.

The City of Vancouver Awards of Excellence ceremony will be presented by Mayor Gregor Robertson at a public ceremony in July.
