Celebrate Canada Day at community centres across Vancouver

June 25 2014

Canada Day

It’s a birthday party on July 1… and everyone is welcome!

One hundred and forty-seven years ago Canada became a new federation with its own constitution by signing the Constitution Act (formerly known as the British North America Act).

Show your Canada Day spirit by dressing in red and white and celebrating at a neighbourhood community centre.

Hastings Community Centre

Hastings Community Centre is offering the ‘Passport to Fun’ and a chance to win prizes at the nearby spray park. The family-friendly celebration begins at 11:00am and includes a dunk tank, cake, live entertainment, and magic show.

Sunset Community Centre

At Sunset Community Centre from 12 noon to 4:00pm, there will be bouncy castles, petting zoo, live entertainment, face painting, environmental art, cupcakes, and more.

Thunderbird, Britannia, False Creek, Kensington, and Renfrew community centres

Other community centres offering Canada Day celebrations on July 1 (unless otherwise indicated) are:

  • Thunderbird - June 28, 12:00 noon to 3:00pm on Cassiar Street outside the community centre
  • Britannia - 12:30pm to 3:00 pm in Victoria Park
  • False Creek - 11:00am to 3:00pm in the community centre and nearby water park
  • Kensington - 12:00 noon to 3:00pm in Kensington Park
  • Renfrew - 1:00pm to 5:00 pm in Renfrew Park

Canada Day celebrations are free (there may be a charge for food) and will take place rain or shine.

Contact your local community centre or 3-1-1 for additional information.
