New paving process using recycled plastic
November 15 2012
The City has developed a new warm mix paving process that uses a state-of-the-art wax material derived from 100 per cent recycled plastics such as milk jugs, shampoo bottles, ice cream tubs, yogurt containers, etc. The paving method reduces greenhouse gases and improves air quality during the paving process, bringing the City one step closer to becoming the greenest city in the world.
At present, the City is piloting this warm-mix technology and will continue with more trials and further evaluation.
