Following an extensive and rigorous search process, the City of Vancouver today announced Ms. Jessie Adcock has been hired as the City’s Chief Digital Officer.

The Chief Digital Officer is a new role within the organization that is mandated to lead the implementation of the City’s Digital Strategy, which was approved by Council in April of this year.

The Chief Digital Officer will inform, champion and support the City’s efforts to leverage digital technology in improving service delivery, public engagement, and building a successful, resilient economy.

Transforming the way we do business

“We want the City to be at the forefront of the digital economy, and the position of Chief Digital Officer is critical for making sure that we’re on the cutting-edge of new technology to serve our residents and businesses,” said Mayor Gregor Robertson. “The digital realm presents tremendous opportunities for the City to transform the way City Hall does business, and we are pleased to have Jessie joining us to lead this effort.”

Broad expertise in the deployment of websites, mobile, social media, and e-commerce

Ms. Adcock comes to the City from HSBC, a global financial institution, where she held a series of senior roles in Marketing and IT with responsibilities for developing and implementing the company’s global digital strategy, application development and online service delivery for consumer and business markets.

Prior to her experience in the financial services sector, Ms. Adcock provided IT consulting, management consulting and project management services to clients in Canada and internationally. Ms. Adcock brings broad expertise in the deployment of websites, mobile, social media, online branding, e-commerce and analytics to support the City’s business objectives.

A Vancouver native, Ms. Adcock has worked extensively overseas and speaks four languages fluently. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and an MBA, as well as formal certifications in project management and product management. She begins her position on October 15.
