The City of Vancouver is extending the deadline to nominate those who make Vancouver excellent. Nominations for the first annual Awards of Excellence are now open until Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 5:00 p.m.

About the Awards of Excellence

The Awards of Excellence is a new awards program launched on February 21, 2014, to recognize outstanding civic achievements in Vancouver made by organizations, businesses, and individuals whose efforts make Vancouver a better city. Anyone can nominate an organization, business, or individual (adults, youth 18 years or younger, and children).

These awards consolidate several City awards programs into one new program that will give more recognition to award winners and bring a diverse group of leaders together to celebrate social accomplishments at a presentation ceremony. It also includes the creation of several new award categories not previously recognized by the City.

Awards categories

The Awards of Excellence include 21 awards in six categories:

  1. Accessible City
  2. Business Innovation
  3. Civic Volunteer
  4. Diversity and Inclusion
  5. Greenest City Leadership
  6. Healthy City for All

Awards ceremony

The first annual Awards of Excellence will be presented by Mayor Gregor Robertson at a public ceremony in June.
