Come together for a spring cleanup

April 14 2014

Group of Keep Vancouver Spectacular volunteers

It’s spring cleanup time in Vancouver.

Every May, thousands of Vancouverites take to the streets to participate in the City's Keep Vancouver Spectacular Neighbourhood Block Cleanup, an event that encourages you to help clean litter from public spaces such as streets, lanes, and parks.

Sign up for a neighbourhood block cleanup

Sign up with your friends, colleagues, sports teams, or clubs. Be a block captain to organize a neighbourhood cleanup or volunteer to join an existing cleanup team.

To help you in your cleanup, we will supply free cleanup tools, such as tongs, garbage bags, and gloves, and services like end-of-cleanup garbage pickup.

Why join?

We can all enjoy vibrant, healthy neighbourhoods when we work together to remove litter and garbage in our communities. Cleaner streets make our neighbourhoods feel safer and attract more business. The entire city wins, too, because proper waste disposal keeps our environment and ecosystem safe and healthy.

Keep Vancouver Spectacular is expanding

Keep Vancouver Spectacular launched in 1996, and 1,500 volunteers participated in the first year. Last year, 18,365 volunteers in 300 groups participated. Keep Vancouver Spectacular is now in its 19th year.

This year, it will expand from a single-month cleanup to a year-round suite of programs including a cleanup in October, electronics recycling drop-off days, and an adopt-a-block program.
