Event details

Have you ever wondered why you enjoy walking down certain streets more than others? Or why some areas of cities are brimming with people while others feel abandoned? Help us find out!

Gehl Architects is conducting a Public Space and Public Life Study in partnership with the City of Vancouver.

With your help, we want to collect ‘people data’ and better understand how people get around and spend time in downtown Vancouver. The study will inform a Downtown Public Space Strategy and potential test projects to bring the strategy from vision to action.

This is a great way to learn about Gehl’s approach to urban planning and design, and to play an active role in future changes to the public realm in downtown Vancouver.

Wednesday, September 13, 2017 - Required training, snacks included. Roundhouse Community Centre (181 Roundhouse Mews). 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Thursday September 14 and September 16, 2017 - 4-hour shifts between 8:00am and 8:00pm

What to expect

We'll be in multiple locations across downtown Vancouver. Please be prepared to be outside and on your feet for the duration of your shift. You will be assigned your location by the project team and notified at the training event. You are welcome to participate in more than one shift.
