An Extreme Weather Alert (EWA) for Vancouver has issued for November 19 and 20 due to an overnight 'feels like' temperature of less than -2C.

This EWA activates the authorities in the Assistance to Shelter Act for police to assist persons at risk due to extreme weather conditions and remains in effect until it is cancelled, according to sec. 2(2)(b) of the Assistance to Shelter Act.

Extra shelter spaces are also being made available at the following locations on Thursday, November 19, and Friday, November 20:

  • Spaces for men will be made available if the regular 72 shelter beds become full

  • Will accommodate couples when able
