Finding Home event to share inspiring stories during Homelessness Action Week

Join the City of Vancouver and its partners on World Homelessness Day for Finding Home, an event that shares inspiring stories from people who have experienced homelessness and those that are striving to improve the lives of the homeless.

When: Wednesday, October 10, 2012, 6-9 pm
Where: St. Andrew's-Wesley United Church, 1022 Nelson Street, Vancouver

Hosted by United Church Minister The Right Reverend Gary Paterson, participants in the evening will include:

  • The SFU/Portland Hotel Society Community Choir
  • At Home/Chez Soi Speakers Bureau
  • Vancouver Design Nerds
  • Homeless Soccer Club
  • Poet Laureate Bud Osborn
  • Dr. Bill MacEwan from UBC's Department of Psychiatry
  • Vancouver City Councillor Kerry Jang
  • and more

Along with sharing these important stories, it's a chance to celebrate the work being done by everyone involved in housing and homelessness challenges and to look at the issues we continue to face. Proceeds will be donated to your choice of non-profits working to address homelessness.

Finding Home is part of 2012 Homelessness Action Week in Metro Vancouver which runs October 7-13. This annual event involves hundreds of community organizers and volunteers holding special events for people who are homeless throughout Metro Vancouver and hosting opportunities to learn more about homelessness challenges.
