Vancouver golf course holding 8-inch cup event so everyone can putt like a pro

“The goal is to attract new golfers who might find the 8-inch hole easier to play,” said Park Board Chair John Coupar

McCleery Golf Course

For the first time ever in the City of Vancouver, golfers can putt into an 8-inch cup.

The Vancouver Park Board is holding an 8-inch cup event at McCleery Golf Course this Saturday, June 13 from dawn to dusk. (Golfers will still have the option to putt into the classic 4-inch cup, too.)

“The goal is to attract new golfers who might find the 8-inch hole easier to play,” said Park Board Chair John Coupar. “If it proves popular, we’ll look at introducing more 8-inch cup events at our three golf courses.”

McCleery Golf Course improvements

McCleery Golf Course is a challenging 18-hole course with sweeping fairways and strategically placed ponds.

Recent improvements include renovations to the 5th hole and widening approaches to the greens to support an enjoyable pace of play.

Improved experience includes VanGolf

In addition to McCleery, the Park Board operates Langara and Fraserview golf courses. In order to improve the golf experience, the Park Board launched the VanGolf mobile app a year ago.

The free app allows golfers to get last minute deals and promotions, and review and book tee times from a cell phone.

8-inch event details

Regular green fees and booking policies apply to Saturday’s 8-inch cup event.

There will be food and beverage specials all day, prize draws, and a photo contest (tweet or Instagram your 8-inch cup pic to #vanparksgolf).
