Stormy weather will bring down leaves; Please help clear street drains

November 16 2012

Street-flooding

Stormy weekend weather is headed our way and that means lingering fall leaves will come down and add to the ones already down and blocking street drains.

With high winds and heavy rain in the forecast, as well as higher than usual tides, City crews are asking residents and businesses to take a few minutes this afternoon to clear street and alley storm drains so rain water can properly drain from local streets and alleys.

Assistance from the public to clear leaves from drains will help reduce the chance of property and street flooding and assist crews as they respond to priority situations.

City staff will be on duty throughout the weekend to respond to intersection and other street-flooding as well as any other weather-related problems.

In the City, please call 3-1-1 (604.873.7000) to report traffic light outages, intersection or other street flooding or other City issues caused by the weather.
