Vancouver Affordable Housing Agency announces their call for board directors

The new Vancouver Affordable Housing Agency has launched a call for board directors. Applications are due before the deadline: Monday, September 22, 2014 at 12noon.

The Vancouver Affordable Housing Agency (VAHA) is a City-controlled, but legally separate, entity created to implement the recommendations from the Mayor's Task Force on Housing Affordability.

About the Board Director role

Board directors will be appointed by City Council following this public call and selection process. The Board of Directors is operationally independent of City Council but aligned with Council priorities.

The Board will consist of a minimum of seven voting directors and the Chief Executive Officer, who is also the Chief Housing Officer for the City of Vancouver. The Board will include three senior members of City of Vancouver staff and four external directors with knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Real estate and development
  • Finance
  • Legal
  • Design and planning
  • Rental housing and property management
  • Affordable housing
