Event details

This story tells of the great composer’s arrival in New York for the grand opening of Carnegie Hall in 1891. A surprise encounter with a young American girl, Jennie, reveals much about Tchaikovsky – his life in Russia, his love of music and his fears of conducting. This is a poignant story of the meeting of old world influences and new world experiences; a tale of contrast, courage, and classical music. Performed by Classical Kids with Willam Rowson conducting the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Kids' Koncerts are concerts for children four to eleven years of age and their families. The Kids’ Koncerts series features the full orchestra and the very best in children’s musical entertainers.

INSTRUMENT FAIR: Begins one hour before each concert in the Orpheum lobby. Children can touch and play real orchestral instruments generously provided by Tom Lee Music.
