Check out the Granville Social this weekend

Once again this summer, Granville Street will come alive with a number of street events.

This summer, a special weekend extravaganza, the Granville Social, will stretch along Granville Street from Hastings Street to Drake Street on July 18 and 19.

The Granville Social is an exciting transformation for VIVA Vancouver's Granville Street activities, doubling the number of activities and program over previous years. As a result, even more participants will help us celebrate our community and culture. Many of Vancouver's favourite participants will enliven the streets again this year, and a few new groups will be welcomed.

The Granville Social will feature local organizations such as Axe Capoeria hosting the Afro-Brazilian Carnaval, India Live, HeArt of Europe, Five Hole for Food, VegFest and more. A new Art Zone will feature live painting and opportunities for you to be a part of murals and other art installations.

All about VIVA

VIVA Vancouver is an incubator of special events that enliven our streets for everyone's enjoyment.

It's also a public space program that, in partnership with the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association, works with community partners to turn street spaces into temporary or semi-permanent public places.

Successful activations in previous years are now stand-alone events, including Buskerfest and Taiwanfest.
