On Saturday, August 20, the Tragically Hip's Man Machine Poem tour finale is being live-streamed free of charge at the Vancouver Playhouse, which is part of Vancouver Civic Theatres.

Six hundred tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre box office on Friday, August 19 starting at noon until 2:00pm. Tickets are limited to two per person.

"There's no doubt Vancouver loves the Hip, and will embrace this show as Canada comes together to celebrate one of our county's quintessential rock bands' last live show this weekend," said Mayor Robertson. "The legacy and impact of the Hip's music will live on for years to come and while this final concert will be bittersweet, Vancouver will heartily celebrate the officially proclaimed Tragically Hip Day every year on July 26."

Free event made possible by City, CBC, and Canadian Cancer Society

Saturday's performance is being live streamed from the band's hometown in Kingston, Ontario, where they will play to 6,000 fans at the intimate K-Rock Centre.

The licence allowing the City of Vancouver to stream the concert at the Vancouver Playhouse via the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation was made possible through the Canadian Cancer Society on the condition that access be open to the public and be free.

Concert details

For those who get tickets to Saturday's event, doors open at 3:30pm, Olympic broadcasting starts at 4:30pm and the concert is live at 5:30pm and will be broadcast in its entirety.
