Women's World Cup expected to bring $36.7 million to Vancouver

June 4 2015

Young soccer fans

We anticipate an estimated $36.7 million impact on the local economy as a consequence of hosting nine matches – including the Final Match – of the month-long FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 TM tournament.

The tournament starts on June 6 and ends on July 5 and is being hosted by six Canadian cities: Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, and Moncton.

Based on national projections released by the Canada Sport Tourism Alliance in February of 2014, the 2015 tournament is estimated to generate approximately $132 million in economic output.
