ODOS Program Best Route Maps
Want to walk or cycle to school but don't know where to start?
ODOS is here to help! City of Vancouver works with the School Board and the school's staff and parents to produce school specific Best Route to School Maps. These maps highlight the "best routes" utilizing existing sidewalks, crosswalks, pedestrian signals and traffic signals. They can help students, parents, teachers and staff make their way from home, across the major busy streets to arrive safely at school. Please review those interim maps with parent and school administrators, and customize your own safe routes to school as appropriate.

Fun fact: To see what your home, school and neighbourhood look like from the air, click the satellite view option on the google map.
Another fun fact: If you are a ODOS participant and have a google account you can combine your best route to school map with the rest of the bike routes within the City! Here's how:
- Open your school's map by clicking on your school's name above
- On the left side of the screen click "Save to My Maps" (you'll need to either sign in to your google account or create one for this to work)
- Open the existing City bike routes map and "Save to My Maps" again
- On the left side of the screen you'll see "Bikeways" and "YOUR SCHOOL Catchment Map" under the "Created by others" heading. By clicking on the checkbox to the left of each of these, both maps will show at the same time!
Vancouver's bike route maps
Not a ODOS school? You may find Google's bike routes map within Vancouver helpful. Also useful are the pdf version of the bike routes map, the City's greenways pdf map and the VPB walking website.
Cycling Vancouver can help you plan your ideal route - whether you want loads of trees, prefer less traffic pollution, are looking for the shortest route or simply don't want much elevation gain.
