ODOS schools enjoy high quality cycling skills training for students, teachers and other school staff!

Student training

ODOS schools cycling skills training is for students in grades 3 to 5. The 3-day program features classroom instruction, on-bike skills training on school property, and road riding with instructors. For Phase II of the ODOS program, the City of Vancouver in partnership with the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition have provided cycling skills training for 2165 students in 17 elementary schools.

School staff training

ODOS schools also receive a 2-day course for teachers and other school staff which includes commuter cycling skills training and classroom activities. The training is offered to give school staff the confidence to ride safely in traffic and to act as role models for their students and the community.

It's not only students who love the cycling skills training, the teachers did too:

"I left feeling inspired and motivated to not only make changes in my personal life, but also to encourage my students to do the same".

"One great benefit I realized about biking to work is I know for sure how long it takes me to get to work, no matter what the traffic is like!"
