One Day One School (ODOS) Program
Currently, one Vancouver secondary school is participating in phase three of the ODOS pilot program with the goal of mentoring elementary students in the same community. This City of Vancouver program aims to reduce greenhouse gases, vehicle traffic and congestion around schools by encouraging students, parents and school staff to walk and cycle. By reducing barriers and making walking and cycling to school a fun activity, we can make Vancouver the healthiest, cleanest, greenest city in the world.
What ODOS does
ODOS provides resources, collaborates with other existing City and private programs and coordinates the implementation at ODOS schools. Specifically, ODOS schools receive:
- cycling skills training
- traffic safety review
- best cycling/walking route maps
- unclaimed bicycle donation program
- climate change related classroom activities and workshops
Note: ODOS schools are also encouraged to check out the other teaching tools listed on the One Day website!
