Carnegie Centre recreation programs and services

Participate in a sport or fitness program 

Carnegie Community Centre offers a number of programs to help you keep healthy and fit. Our activities include:

  • Yoga
  • Volleyball
  • Basketball
  • Floor hockey
  • Tai chi
  • Hiking 

Use our recreation facilities

Carnegie also offers the following recreational facilities:

  • Weightlifting room
  • Gymnasium for drop-in use
  • Pool room (billiards)  

Take part in our seniors' program

Seniors hold a monthly meeting on the third Thursday of each month at 2:00pm in the theatre to review out-trips, decide how funds will be spent, and receive updates on community and centre events.

Our seniors' program hosts two annual dinners, one at Christmas, and the other during the Chinese New Year.

Fundraising

Carnegie's seniors' program is unique in the community centre, as members raise funds to support the program through coffee sales. Half of the money raised goes into replenishing stock, while the remainder is spent on activities such as:

  • Day trips
  • Cable and newspapers 
  • Small stipends for hospitalized seniors

The seniors also contribute funds to other Carnegie events such as the children’s Christmas party, February 14 Women’s Memorial March, and National Aboriginal Day.
