Each year the Stanley Park Ghost Train takes our riders on a journey through a mystical and magical world, inspired by Hallowe'en and other spooky tales. This family event is open to all age and offers a fright free glimpse of the whimsical world of ghosts and ghouls.

Plaza activities include:

2017 Ghost Train: Alien Invasion

They came from outer space with only one destination in mind: the Stanley Park Ghost Train, and only one goal: alien invasion!

Be prepared to be abducted to the unearthly, fantastical, and strange world. Journey into the restricted zones and witness the landing.

Note Weather notice: The train runs rains or shine. We may close during stormy weather. Check our opening hours by phoning our information line at 604-257-8531 and press 2. Tickets will be refunded only if there is an official closure.

The Ghost Train is open October 13 to 31, 2017.

Live theatrical performance train

  • Monday to Thursday, 5:30pm to 9:30pm
  • Friday to Sunday, 5:30pm to 10:00pm

Matinee train

  • Friday to Sunday, 11:00am to 5:00pm (last train at 5:00pm)

Matinee train

Our matinee train ride is a great daytime activity for families, school groups, and groups with children. Journey through the forest and view our thematic displays. Ticket sales for the matinee train end at 5:00pm.

There are no live performers during matinee train rides.

Night train

Our classic night train ride includes a 14 minute experience following our “Alien Invasion” theme with lights, sounds, and live performers.


You must buy a ticket to ride the train. Your ticket is valid for one Ghost Train ride and other attractions in the plaza.

Avoid the crowds and come out Monday to Thursday in the first two weeks

How to buy tickets

Buy advance tickets early to avoid sold out rides.

Tickets are sold in half-hour time slots. Several trains will depart within each time slot. Tickets are good for one train ride during the time slot shown on the ticket, and for one entry to the Train Plaza attractions.

 Tickets are only good for the date and time shown on the ticket, and are non-refundable.

Buy same-day tickets in person

Is the time slot you want sold out online? A portion of tickets for each night are reserved for on-site purchase, so even if online tickets are sold out for that day, tickets are still available at the ticket booth.  Come early as this event is popular!

On-site ticket sales start at 3:00pm, Monday to Thursday, and 11:00am, Friday to Sunday. You can buy same-day tickets only.

Matinee ticket sales cut off at 5:00pm, Friday to Sunday.

Leisure Access Passholders can buy tickets on-site for all trains except for evening trains(5:30pm to close) October 13-15, 20-22 and 27-29.

Group bookings

Would you like to bring a larger group to the Stanley Park Ghost Train? Make an advanced reservation when online tickets sales begin on August 9, 2017. Group tickets aren't sold in person at the Train Plaza.

Ghost Train is located on Pipeline Road in Stanley Park, via the West Georgia Street park entrance.

Free parking

The Ghost Train has on-site and overflow parking lots. All parking is free.

Overflow lots include the Info Booth, North Pipeline Road, and Beaver Lake lots.

Ride the train

Several trains depart during each half-hour time slot.

Line up at the start of your time slot for shorter waits.

For example, if your time slot is 7:00pm to 7:30pm, arrive at 7:00pm and join the line for your time slot. You'll board a train by 7:30pm. All aboard!

Note Ghost Train is a family-friendly event and we suggest parental guidance for children. For a less scary experience, try our matinee train.


Accessibility parking spots are located near the main gate to the Train Plaza.

The entire site is wheelchair accessible.

The train has a specially designed carriage for two people in wheelchairs and their companions.

Staff can help passengers board the train, if needed.

Dogs at the Stanley Park Train

Dogs of any size are not permitted on the train out of consideration for our visitors with allergies or who are fearful of dogs. Certified service animals are permitted.

Snacks, hot and cold drinks, and light meals are for sale at the Railway Café concession stand. Hot buttered popcorn is offered at the Stanley Park Ecology Society's Cob House in the plaza.
