The Vancouver Destination Walks are part of the City's Step Out Walks program. The Park Board has created Active News stories for all of the walks listed above. Vancouver has been recognized for the outstanding amount and quality of public recreation space. There are more than 200 parks within the city, totaling over 1,300 hectares of green space. The Destination Walks weave through some of the most incredible and well known urban parks in the world such as Stanley Park and Queen Elizabeth Park. Routes through lesser known and traveled areas such as Musqueam Park, Everett Crowley and Jericho Beach Park offer serenity and peace through enchanting wooded areas, and offer a lovely and refreshing escape into nature.

The sights and sounds of Vancouver's bustling metropolis are enjoyed by many walkers in the downtown core. Whether it is taking in the stunning architecture in Coal Harbour, stopping by the Granville Island Public Market for a fresh and healthy snack, or watching the sun set from English Bay amongst the palm trees, there is always something happening in the heart of the city.

Our walkable city is distinguished by the world famous waterfront seawall. Winding around the perimeter of downtown and on towards UBC, the publicly accessible pathway is a favourite destination for many and a source of great pride for Vancouverites. Marvel at the tides along the Spanish Bank, or explore the waterfront communities of False Creek and experience the recently developed South East False Creek neighbourhood; a legacy from the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. Vancouver's breath taking waterfront scenery extends along the mighty Fraser River, and inland bodies of water glisten in various locations including: VanDusen Gardens, John Hendry Park and Hastings Sanctuary.
