Jarrid Jenkins
Jarrid Jenkins is the Public Programs Manager for the Stanley Park Ecology Society (SPES). In this role, he is responsible for the coordination and delivery of SPES' public education programming including the weekly Discovery Walk program, the Eco Ranger volunteer program, ESL programming, seasonal programming (such as summer day camps and the Creatures of the Night walking tour in October), and for the operation of the Lost Lagoon Nature House. Jarrid is also SPES' main liaison between the artists-in-residence and partners of the Stanley Park Environmental Art Project.
In addition to a science-based Education degree, a Master's degree exploring learning in informal environments, and an educational multimedia certificate from BCIT, Jarrid also has a Fine Arts degree with a focus on place-based installation. This eclectic mix has allowed Jarrid to create programming for SPES that explores the complexities of managing and restoring Stanley Park after an event like the December 2006 windstorm, as well as to develop new programming and public engagement opportunities that reflect the many unique attributes of the Stanley Park Environmental Art Project. Jarrid is very excited about this project because it allows SPES to engage not only their traditional and supportive audiences, but also new audiences that may take a deeper interest in Stanley Park through the new lens provided by the environmental art project.
