Mission, Goals, Policies and Strategies
MISSION
To provide programs, activities and services that respect individual differences and enhance community spirit, while meeting the recreational and social needs of all residents in the Kerrisdale community.
GOALS
- Ensure that Centre facilities are safe, attractive, welcoming and efficient.
- Improve community awareness of Centre programs and services.
- Provide multiple methods of communication and registration for Community Centre patrons.
- Increase the number of our Community Partners.
- Achieve a Board composition which reflects the diversity of the Society’s membership.
- Attract, develop and maintain staff with skills to ensure top quality community service.
- Identify and respond to the program, activity and service needs of all aspects of our community.
- Maintain a leadership role among the community centres jointly operated with the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation
POLICIES
- To encourage all members of the community to use the centre’s facilities and participate in its programs.
- To continuously strive for improvement in programs, services and activities.
- To treat all people with courtesy and respect at the Centre.
- To display respect for the unique history and diverse characteristics of the Kerrisdale community and balance its present and future needs.
- To model effective working relationships throughout the centre and related facilities.
STRATEGIES 2009 - 2011:
- We will provide our customers with a sense of safety and security, while enjoying the KCC facilities and premises.
- We will continue to focus on excellent customer service and relationship building.
- We will continue to foster a sense of community and we will make extra effort communicating with those having language barriers and the hard to reach.
- We will continue to improve our program information and overall communications with the public.
- We will continue to ensure financial accountability is maintained while balancing our social responsibility.
- Maintain an effective Board of Directors that is representative of our membership.
- Continue to offer a program slate that is attractive to our community customer base.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with elected park Board Commisioners and Park Board staff.
- Undertake the planning and building of a new aquatic and ice rink facility.
