CAP C Programs Newborn-6yrs
F.A.S.T. (Family and Staff Team) is committed to develop CAPC Families Branching Out as a parent-directed initiative that serves to increase the health and well being of young
children and families. The team meets monthly to identify
common issues concerning families and works together to
develop programs. We share resources and plan special events. Childcare, food and transportation are provided to ensure the meeting is accessible. If you have a child 0-6 years old and would like to join the F.A.S.T., please call Lorraine at

Earlier this year the BC government
launched a new initiative aimed to be
largest health promotion campaign in the
country. The program focuses on parents
making healthy choices and setting
better examples for their kids. Join us in

Food Skills for Families
Cooking healthy food that is tasty and
appealing can be a challenge, especially
on a tight budget. The Canadian
Diabetics Association developed a
program to enhance skills necessary for
choosing and preparing healthy foods.
This program involves a learning
component and hands-on cooking in
three hour sessions for six consecutive
weeks. If you would like to register for
our upcoming winter session please call

Explore your creativity with kid friendly
meals and snacks. Each week two parents
will join Lorraine in preparing nutritious

Mandarin Parent Support
Circle
We are offering a Parent Support Circle
in Mandarin for families with young
children. What are Parent Support
Circles? They are free, confidential,
anonymous weekly meetings of parents
who wish to learn new ways to nurture
and protect their children. Child
minding and snacks are provided. This
program is run in partnership with
Parent Support Services Society of BC. FREE with Thunderbird Family

Thunderbird Family Drop In Newborn-6 yrs
Calling all parents with little ones! Join us in the family drop-in
centre for a variety of fun activities. Educational toys, crafts and books are geared towards making learning and playtime fun.
Parents have an opportunity to socialize and share information with one another. Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday as scheduled above.

Calling all Skeena families! Join us at the Hut for a variety of fun activities where parents can socialize and share information. A light lunch is included. For Skeena residents only. Open Thursday 9:00 am-12:00 pm.
The Hut Family Drop In Community Kitchen Newborn-6 yrs
We invite you to join us for a multi-cultural lunch. Led by
parents in the community, participants are encouraged to prepare and share favourite recipes. There will also be regular visits from a health nurse and librarian who will share information, resources and answer any questions you may have. The Hut is located in the Skeena Terrace Housing Complex (2202 Cassiar Street ) and open on Tuesdays 11:00 am-2:30 pm.
StrongStart BC
StrongStart BC is a free, drop-in early
learning program for preschool-aged children 0 to 6 years old accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Qualified early childhood educators
lead learning activities including stories,
music and art to help children get ready for
success in kindergarten. Parents are expected to participate and are sure to discover new ways to support their children’s learning at home and make valuable connections with others attending the centre. The program is located at Thunderbird
Elementary School in Room 108. Program closed on
Professional Development Days, District Closure days and
statutory holidays.

Learn songs, rhymes and listen to stories. This class provides a fun environment for you to play with your child. Excellent for

Friday Night Family Fun 6+ yrs
Bring the family and enjoy your choice of family fun! Step into the gym for a variety of different sports or watch a different
movie each week and play cooperative games. Children will have the opportunity to assist with simple food preparation. This program is for parents with children 6-12yrs old.

Karate Beginner Children and Family 6+ yrs
Have fun while learning traditional Go-Ju Ryu Karate taught by 7th Dan Shihan George Chan (over 28 years of experience) and 4th Dan Sensei Ivan Cheng. This program improves focus
and self-discipline. Students learn at their own pace and gain confidence for all with mini-tests to determine progress
levels. This program is also recognized by the School Board as a Physical Education credit and is tax deductible by Revenue
Canada. Please note that George encourages parents to
register for this program and participate with their children. The parent registration fee is the same price as the child’s registration fee. Visit www.kuyukai.com.

Video games, large screen plasma TV and a ping-pong table is set up in the Party Room. Available Saturdays & Sundays. This option is ideal for older kids. $125
Party Room Fun
All the fun is packed in the large party room! A small bouncy castle, plasma cars, bouncy toys and many other play equipment is added to the party room to make the party more exciting. Available Saturday. This option is suitable for smaller groups of children younger than 6 years old. $150
Party Gym Fun
Access to an indoor playground is provided. Our indoor play gym includes a large bouncy castle, plasma cars, bouncy toys, soft blocks, sports equipment and much more. Available Sunday. This option is suitable for all group sizes and ages. $175
Subsidies
All programs at Thunderbird Community Centre are
subsidized and the fees are set at the lowest reasonable rates. As well, the Thunderbird Board of Directors has a
policy to assist those living in the Thunderbird area who cannot afford the advertised price of specific programs
or activities. Please contact Joe Wong or inquire at the front office for further subsidy information. The Subsidy Form is also available to download. This support is made possible by the fundraising efforts of many. |
