What Every Babysitter Should Know
For ages 11-18 yrs.
This course is designed to teach young people how to care for children and infants while babysitting. The course will
enhance awareness and safety, responsible babysitting and
develop skills to cope with common emergencies. Students who successfully complete the program will be issued a
certificate of completion. Instructor: St. John Ambulance

LIFT - Learning is First Gr. 6-8
LIFT is a tutoring and mentorship program for youth in grades 6-8. Come join us to get help from university tutors, play games, eat snacks, and gain new skills. We do homework AND have fun!

This program is for pre-teens that go to Thunderbird Elementary
School. This is an instructional program led by a talented and

Get your legs flying up in the air! Learn to do a proper turn! This program is appropriate for beginners that strive to
develop a strong foundation of techniques in dance. It is also
appropriate for those who want to enhance their dancing skills. No matter what style of dance you are in, a technique class is beneficial to improve overall coordination, strength, flexibility, stamina and self-confidence.

Calling all preteens! If you like sitting at home doing nothing, are grumpy from being bored, don’t like going outside then this program is NOT for you! We are about going out, having fun and learning a few things along the way!

This program places children in grade six & seven into volunteer
positions at the centre. Youth will have ongoing leadership

Where The Girls Are! 11-14 yrs

Thunderbird - Then & Now
- Digital Storytelling Workshop
With support from the City of Vancouver’s 125th
Anniversary Grants Program, two artists will work with the community using digital technology to write short stories, record audio and edit images to create a short video. Participants will learn short story writing skills, photo editing, video/sound recording, video editing, and archive and post their stories online. FREE with Thunderbird Membership

Calling all bikers! Do you have a bike? Can you ride? Did you bike this past summer!? Would you like to travel outside of your neighbourhood? If you answered yes to any of these questions you should join our Bike Club!!! We will learn to ride on the road and travel around Vancouver! It’s gonna be A lot of FUN!! Must have helmet, bike and some experienced riding.

Have fun while learning traditional Go-Ju Ryu Karate taught by 7th Dan Shihan George Chan (over 28 years of experience) and 4th Dan Sensei Ivan Cheng. This program improves focus
and self-discipline. Students learn at their own pace and gain confidence for all with mini-tests to determine progress
levels. This program is also recognized by the School Board as a Physical Education credit and is tax deductible by Revenue
Canada. Please note that George encourages parents to

Youth Incentive Program 13-18 yrs
Attention teenagers! Thunderbird Community Centre is
looking for responsible youth who are willing to commit to a few volunteer hours a week. Volunteers will assist instructors
of children’s program with various duties. This is a great
program to gain work experience, gain a credible reference, and get CAP hours. All registering for YIP MUST go through an intensive leadership training process offered twice a year. For more information, please contact Tara at

Youth 15 years old may work out during the supervised time in the Fitness Centre. Scovia, the Fitness Centre Attendant, is looking forward to sharing her passion for health and

subsidized and the fees are set at the lowest reasonable rates. As well, the Thunderbird Board of Directors has a
policy to assist those living in the Thunderbird area who cannot afford the advertised price of specific programs
