Free golf to kids will be offered the week of July 6th to 12th this year in twilight, sunset and super sunset times with a paid adult green fee. Take a Kid to the Course Week was developed by the National Golf Course Owners Association Canada to encourage families and juniors to take up the game of golf. It is a cross-Canada campaign is designed to illustrate how easy it is to improve both your score and your relationship with your children by bringing them out to the golf course. "This past week we have played four rounds of nine with our 11 year old. Best family time you could believe. This week sure puts family first in a world where every influence seems to be taking it away", said Brad Kalbfleisch a participant from the 2008 Take a Kid to the Course Week. "Golf provides kids with valuable life skills, such as perseverance, patience, and respect," added Ron Caswell, Manager of Operations for the Vancouver East District. "They will enjoy quality time with family and friends and experience an activity that takes them away from the computer and into the great outdoors." National Golf Course Owners Association Canada is a not-for-profit trade association representing close to fourteen hundred members.
