Project Informationjericho Park Synthetic Turf playfieldProject Type: Fields Park Details: Jericho Beach Park Contact: Project DescriptionOn February 8, 2010, the Park Board approved the installation of a synthetic turf playfield in Jericho Park, on the West Field in Jericho Park. The project also includes the extension of the east field to accommodate rugby, refurbishment of the existing softball diamond and construction of two new tennis courts. The three western tennis courts will be removed to accommodate the extension of the rugby field. The tennis courts will be temporarily shut down during the construction of the two new tennis courts. We apologize for any inconvenience, tennis courts are also available at West Point Grey Park at Trimble Street and W. 8th Avenue. The project was tendered for construction on April 30th, 2010 and construction will be completed in spring 2011. Community ParticipationIn November 2010, the Park Board created a Stakeholder Committee to provide a forum for stakeholders to meet and have ongoing dialogue on the hours of operations for the lighting of the Jericho Park synthetic turf field. Once the lights are operational, the Stakeholder Committee will meet to review the lighting impacts and discuss necessary mitigation measures. The lights will be operational in February 2011. For updates on the Stakeholder Committee, please contact Yuna Flewin at yuna.flewin@vancouver.ca November 16, 2010 Open House Field Lighting Demonstration: Area residents and stakeholders are invited to a demonstration of the new playfield lighting system. City sport user groups are scheduled* to play through this trial during which time, light, traffic and sound levels will be monitored. Feedback regarding the operation of this new playfield (ie. suggested hours of operation, light, sound or traffic impact) should be emailed to the Park Board at pbcomment@vancouver.ca AND the NW Point Grey Home Owner's Association at nwpghoa@gmail.com. Please include your contact information. The information collected during this trial will be used to assist in finalizing the operating plan for the field. Park Rangers will be on site each evening of the trial and can be reached by calling 3-1-1.
