Project Information
Heat Recovery Ventilator Installation
at the Kitsilano Community Centre
Background
The change rooms located in the basement of the Kitsilano Community Centre have been serving the local community for generations. After so much wear and tear an upgrade was due. The main specifics of the project were to:
- remove the existing aging exhaust fan servicing the change rooms
- remove the fin heaters serving the change rooms
- provide heat to the change rooms
The Vancouver Park Board saw this as an opportunity to not only upgrade the change rooms but to conserve energy as well.
Project Description
The existing exhaust fan will be removed and replaced with a heat recovery ventilator. This heat recovery ventilator will bring fresh conditioned air in while simultaneously exhausting air from the change rooms. Hydronic baseboard heaters were also be installed to keep the change rooms warm.
This arrangement will save a great deal of energy as well as reduce the carbon footprint of the Kitsilano Community Centre.
