Memorial South Synthetic Turf Playfield and Running Track UpgraDE

Project Description

On February 8, 2010, the Park Board approved the installation of a lit synthetic turf playfield on the southwest field at Memorial South Park, as well as an upgrade to the Memorial South running track. The running track will be upgraded from the existing cinder track surface to a six lane, rubberized surfacing with low-level lighting . The play field will be an extremely durable sports surfacing system utilized by various sports groups including soccer, ultimate and field hockey.

The project was tendered in the Spring of 2010 and construction begus at the end of June. The Southwest field, running track and cricket oval will be closed to the public through the summer and reopen in the Fall of 2010. The playground and other park amenities will remain open.
