Project InformationTrillium North Park SiteProject Type: Park Development Key Dates: Contact: Project DescriptionThe 3.05 hectare Trillium park site is bounded by Malkin Avenue, Thornton Street and National Avenue, and is situated in the False Creek flats. The first phase of the park development occurred in 2010/ 2011 and consisted of the construction of 2 synthetic turf fields and washroom/changerooms. The remaining northern portion of the site, approximately 1ha, will be developed as a neighbourhood passive park, Trillium North Park. Construction will begin in 2013 and completion will be in 2014. Community ParticipationThe planning and public process was conducted in the fall and winter of 2011/ 2012. A meeting with stakeholder groups and a community Open House was held in November 2011 to identify issues, priorities and possible program elements to consider for the new park. Following this, a Working Group was formed consisting of stakeholders working with Park Board staff and Consultant to develop a concept for the park, which was presented for comment at a second Open House on February 29, 2012. Design development and detailed design is planned for 2012, with construction in 2013 and park opening in 2014. February 29, 2012 Open House: This second Open House was held at Strathcona Community Centre to update the community on the plans for the Trillium North park site and timelines for this project. As well, the proposed concept plan for the park was presented, which was developed by the Vancouver Park Board, consultants and members of neighbourhood stakeholder groups (Trillium Working Group). Consultants, Park Board staff and members of the Trillium Working Group were on hand to answer questions and to explain the images on the presentation boards
