British Columbia Magazine Story

As the Vancouver Park Board rolls out restoration plans for Stanley Park in 2008, British Columbia Magazine is pleased to announce a $10,000 donation to the cause. A year after violent winter winds wreaked havoc in Vancouver's treasured city park, the magazine has delivered on its commitment to donate a portion of proceeds from its special issue, Stanley Park: A special place, published in 2007.

"Stanley Park is important to British Columbians as a place of recreation and respite, a cherished downtown green space in our largest city," says Anita Willis, editor of British Columbia Magazine. "Creating the Stanley Park special issue was our way of celebrating this incredible place by raising awareness and raising money for the park." The money will pay for new trees to be planted in the storm-damaged park.

"British Columbia Magazine has created a lasting tribute to Stanley Park with its special issue," says Vancouver Park Board chair Korina Houghton. "And their generous donation to our restoration work is a real public service to the millions of people who enjoy this park."
