The task of restoring the park after the extensive damage caused by the December 2006 storm will be long and complex, requiring the dedicated efforts of staff, consultation with forestry, geotechnical and ecology experts and input from community stakeholders and partners. Several committees have been struck to guide and support the restoration process.

Staff Team

Led by Jim Lowden, the Stanley Park Restoration Team will develop principles and process around the recovery and restoration of the park. The restoration plan will involve damage and hazard assessments, procedure choices, safety programs, resources required, and strategies for implementation. As well, the group will consider the community's vision for the damaged areas of the park.
