Children's Programming

Vancouver Park Board welcomes children to participate in all community centre programs. Depending on the level of support needed, a program may request that you provide your own one-to-one worker. If you would like any information about suitability of a specific program, or to find a program to meet the specific interests or needs of your child, please contact the Integration Program Assistant at 604-718-5853 or email dawn.livesley@vancouver.ca

Adapted Programming

I CAN Play Soccer Ages 5-11 years
Ray Cam Community Centre
The "I CAN" Play Soccer program has been specifically designed to promote the physical and social development of children with autism by providing an environment and pace of instruction that is modified to meet their needs. Siblings are welcome to participate and share in the positive experience while parents have a moments rest. Coaches and one-to-one workers adapt the program to the needs of the participants. Visual schedules are also used.

Integrated Programming

Supported Summer Day Camps Ages 6-12 years
To facilitate the integration of children with disabilities, an Inclusion Support Worker is available at the four following locations. Volunteer support is an integral part of inclusion, and is provided by trained youth recruited from the community. Day camps operate daily in July and August; fees may vary. Families of all children requiring extra support to participate will be contacted in June, in order to meet to discuss the individual needs of the child. **All children are welcome to participate at your local community centre’s weekly day camp programs, but may be required to provide one-to-one support.
