Government and non-profit organizations, as well as many businesses, credit unions, and banks have community funding programs that work with non-profit or social enterprise organizations.

Planning and capital grants for cultural spaces

Government of Canada – Canada Cultural Spaces Fund

The Canada Cultural Spaces Fund supports the improvement, renovation, and construction of arts and heritage facilities, the acquisition of specialized equipment, and the undertaking of feasibility studies.

Vancity Foundation and Community Grants

The Vancity Community Foundation focuses on non-profit social enterprises, community-owned real estate (including housing), and collaborative approaches toward change. Funding criteria and application processes vary across their granting programs.

Central City Foundation 

The Central City Foundation grants support programs that enhance the inner city community and provide economic opportunity.

Real Estate Foundation

The Real Estate Foundation funds initiatives that transform real estate and land use practices throughout BC. General and special grant programs are available to eligible non-profit societies, municipalities, regional districts, First Nations, senior government departments, professional associations, and other societies. 

Province of BC – BC Creative Spaces 

BC Creative Spaces improves the physical conditions for engaging British Columbians in creative activities through the development of new spaces, improvement to existing facilities, and the purchase or upgrade of specialized equipment. Funding assistance is available to non-profit arts and cultural organizations, First Nation band councils, or First Nations friendship centres.

TD Friends of the Environment Foundation

The TD Friends of the Environment Foundation supports a wide range of environmental initiatives, with a primary funding focus on environmental education, urban greening, biodiversity enhancement, and energy conservation.

Capacity and organizational sustainability

BC Arts Council Capacity and Sustainability Program

The BC Arts Council Capacity and Sustainability Program helps arts and cultural organizations that are planning to increase their capacity and contribute to long-term sustainability. 

Vantage Point

Vantage Point provides full bursaries for non-profit arts, community, or social service organizations that are existing City grant recipients or are a primary tenant of a City-owned or controlled space.
