Community garden expansion proposal for Jonathan Rogers Park

The community garden at Jonathan Rogers Park

The Urban Diggers Society has developed a proposal to expand the existing Elizabeth Rogers Community Garden in Jonathan Rogers Park. The garden was first approved by the Park Board in 1996.

Proposed additions

The proposed expansion will add:

  • 368 m² to the overall garden area, from 964 m² to 1332 m²
  • 20 garden plots for users of all ages and abilities
  • Two plots for non-profit organisations
  • A neighbourhood plot for a free community harvest
  • A community seating area for educational seminars and demonstrations on organic gardening and for general public use
  • More food-bearing trees
  • A perimeter growing fence
  • Another garden shed with a seed exchange and lending library structure

These additions will be further developed if the project is supported by the community and approved by the Park Board.
