WOMEN'S SAFETY FAIR
The Vancouver Police Department and community partners held the fourth annual Women's Safety Fair on September 16th, at the Broadway campus of Vancouver Community College. The fair featured a personal safety demonstration for women only by the VPD's Women's Personal Safety Team, a women-focused transit safety presentation by Transit Police, facilitated community discussions, and information booths.
Attendees were invited to stop by the many booths being sponsored by partner agencies. They heard from dedicated experts who provided practical support and information to people affected by domestic violence, child abuse, sexual offences, street-level violence, elder abuse, internet luring and more.
There were community discussions relating to ways that we as a community can challenge violence against women, as well as interactive personal safety demonstrations from experts in the field.
