Identity Theft Unit
The Identity Theft Unit was created in early 2005 to target suspects involved in identity theft, mail theft, and the crimes committed for the purpose of gathering personal and financial information, whether through break-ins to homes, businesses, mailboxes, or vehicles.
The members of the Unit investigate street-level property crime offenders and/or groups involved in identity crime. These offenders are mid- to high-level suspects that go beyond the theft of personal identifying information, and are known to recruit, share, train, commit, or assist others to commit identity crime and related property crimes.
The Unit is also used as a resource for patrol officers and other investigative teams, offering support and expertise in their investigations.
