Patrol District Three

Patrol District ThreeDistrict Three includes the neighbourhoods of Sunset, Renfrew-Collingwood, Mount Pleasant, Killarney, Victoria-Fraserview and Kensington-Cedar Cottage. District Three has two Community Policing Centres:

Within the District is a diverse mix of population, income groups, industries and businesses. Members who patrol the area are called upon to deal with a whole spectrum of issues.

A community policing philosophy empowers line officers to solve problems by way of "problem oriented policing." In an effort to effectively target community problems, District Three has developed Neighbourhood Integrated Service Teams (NISTs) for each neighbourhood, with notable success in boarding up or demolishing several problem houses and the eviction of a number of difficult tenants. Other projects within District Three relate to parking and traffic enforcement, garbage and building maintenance, safety in local parks and monitoring sales of cooking wines to alcoholics.
