Journalism Students

The Vancouver Police Department is happy to take requests for interviews and information from journalism students. Requests are granted based on staffing and workload levels. Last minute requests can rarely be accommodated.

All requests are to be emailed to media@vpd.ca, outlining a narrowed focus of the story, what is required from the VPD and the deadline.

Students are encouraged to check the VPD website first, particularly for:

The VPD does not comment on the cases and policies of other police agencies or on VPD cases that are in the court process.

Students are welcome at VPD press conferences and attendance increases the chance of getting a quote, clip or a short interview. Journalism schools are on the media distribution list and receive notification of press conferences and releases. Any student looking for a quote or short interview should email media@vpd.ca with their topic so the media spokesperson can gather any necessary information in advance of the press conference.
