The Vancouver Police Department is a diverse police force, reflecting the rich tapestry of the many communities and lifestyles that make up our city. We are one of the largest municipal police forces in Canada and we are recognized as an innovator in Canadian law enforcement. There are almost 400 civilian employees in the VPD, working in partnership with their uniformed co-workers.

For all uniformed positions, attending one of the VPD's monthly Information Sessions at the Justice Institute of B.C. in New Westminster is strongly recommended.

Police Officer, Jail Guard, Community Safety Officers, and Traffic Authority Applicants: Attending one of the VPD's monthly Information Sessions at the Justice Institute of B.C. in New Westminster is your first step in applying to the VPD. Attending the Information Session is the only way to pick up an application to join the VPD.
