Burrard Bridge Lane Reallocation Trial

bridge

A positive step towards safer and more sustainable commuting

Safety, Sustainability, AffordabilityCyclists and pedestrians now have their own protected routes to cross the bridge more safely. The lane trial, which started July 13, represents an affordable and positive step towards safer, more sustainable commuting into downtown. It also means just one less vehicle lane out of the 30 that go over or around False Creek.

Please familiarize yourself with these changes to help make your journey as safe and efficient as possible.

During the trial, we will be monitoring the amount of motorists, cyclists and pedestrians going over the bridge, and we will be providing statistics that will allow you to track usage. See the latest numbers

PedestriansCyclistMotoristsUpdate November 2009: The protected bike lanes will remain in place through the fall and winter. City staff will report back to Council after the 2010 Winter Games with options for permanent bridge improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles.
