  • Cycling paths on the west curb lane & east sidewalk are separated from traffic by concrete barriers
  • Protected access exit lanes on the north side of the bridge
  • Improved connections to other bike paths in the city...and more

The shared sidewalks were a potentially dangerous arrangement. By making improvements to the bridge for cyclists, it has become safer and many have taken up riding.

The southbound curb lane on the bridge is now allocated to southbound cyclists only and is protected from traffic by concrete barriers. To access the protected southbound lane, eastbound cyclists on Pacific enter at Thurlow Street, and southbound cyclists enter from Burrard, just after crossing Pacific.

The northbound sidewalk is for the exclusive use of cyclists and is protected by concrete barriers. The easiest way for cyclists to access the east sidewalk is from the Burrard Street bike lane. Cyclists can also access the east sidewalk by using the crosswalk at Burrard St and Cornwall Avenue.

All cyclists should familiarize themselves with the pedestrian and motorist routes. View map
