  • Three northbound lanes remain unchanged
  • Concrete barriers divide pedestrians & cyclists from vehicle traffic
  • The new Canada Line provides additional transit capacity into downtown

On the drive out of downtown, motorists now have one less lane and should consider alternate routes, which in many cases involves an extra block of travel. All motorists should familiarize themselves with the pedestrian and cyclist routes. View map

Alternate routes

If you are driving, remember there are many alternate routes to access the downtown core – from the Granville and Cambie Street bridges, to Main Street and the Georgia Viaduct. Think about switching to one of these commuting alternatives or riding the new Canada Line.

Drive routing analysis by the City of Vancouver indicates that use of the Granville Bridge extends most southbound commutes by only 150 metres, or one city block.Map of alternative routes into downtown
